The Insane Cosplay Project:

One Fangirl's Journey to Anime Expo 2002 and...beyond?

At Anime Expo 2001, I noted something of a shame in my eyes.  No, it wasn't the confused planning, rude/clueless staff, or what some have called a lackluster Masquerade.  I saw precious few Slayers characters walking about.  The injustice touched deep into my heart, and I knew what I had to do.  If you want something done right, dammit, do it yourself, right?  As I sat crouched in a hotel corner feasting on over-priced pizza and pocky, I glanced a group of Magic Knights Rayearth cosplayers and I knew that I was going to have a Slayers team the following year.  Grease dribbling down my chin, I swallowed hard and announced: "I think I wanna do a Slayers group next year."
"Really? What season," asked an acquaintance dressed as Card Captor Sakura.
"Mmmm...Next.  Definately Next.  I'll be Lina, of course."
"Yeah, I think you're perfect for the role of Lina," my Lupin-dressed cohort blurted almost too excitedly.
"OH?  Are you implying something about my figure," I glared dangerously at him.
"Uh, no! No!" he cowered.
I smiled.  This was going to be fun.
